Bridget Calhoun has been a PA since 1992. After graduating from Saint Francis University in Loretto, PA, Bridget worked in transplant surgery at the University of Pittsburgh where she was intrigued by the research that was being conducted. Wanting greater responsibilities in research, she enrolled at the University of Pittsburgh's Graduate School of Public Health. Her doctoral program required a 12-month clinical research residency and she began working in HIV/AIDS research. In 2008, she earned a doctoral degree in public health in infectious diseases and microbiology. Dr. Calhoun served as program director of the PA program at Duquesne University for 20 years and is now the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Research in the School of Health Sciences at Duquesne University. Dr. Calhoun has served in leadership positions in the PAEA and the NCCPA. Dr. Calhoun is the current liaison between the Pennsylvania Society of Physician Assistants and the State Department of Health.
