Interim Provost

Matt Dane Baker has greater than 39 years of healthcare and higher education experience, having held several positions in clinical, academic, administrative, military, and research settings. Dr. Baker currently serves as Interim Provost. In this position, he oversees all academic affairs units including the registrar’s offices, enrollment management, financial aid, outcomes assessment, accreditation, study abroad, the honors program, new program development, the libraries, the Teaching and Learning Center, the Academic Success Center, the Jefferson Center for Interprofessional Education and Practice, the Dr. Robert and Dorothy Rector Clinical Skills and Simulation Center, special projects, and several external partnerships.

Previously, he was a university Provost, College Executive Dean, School Dean, Program Director, and Professor. He also has 24 years of military service with the Army and Air National Guard, having retired as a lieutenant colonel in the New Jersey Air National Guard at McGuire Air Force Base. He serves as an accreditation site visitor for the Middles States Commission on Higher Education and site visitor and commissioner for the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and past Physician Assistant Education Association Master Faculty Award recipient. He currently serves as Chair of the AAPA Research and Strategic Initiatives Commission.
